Peugeot 3008 — Research File (September 2026)

What the car is

Third-generation 3008 (P64), launched 2024 — the first car on Stellantis's STLA Medium platform, built in Sochaux. Coupe-SUV styling, 4.54 m, 520 L boot, 21-inch curved panoramic screen with i-Toggle shortcuts. Powertrain menu: Hybrid 136 (1.2 turbo 48V mild hybrid, e-DCS6, from €38,490 FR); Plug-in Hybrid 195 (e-DCS7); Electric 210 (73 kWh, 527 km WLTP, ~€41,990–43,995); Electric 230 Long Range (98 kWh, up to 700 km WLTP, €46,990 Allure / €51,490 GT FR, eligible for €4,000 eco-bonus); Dual Motor AWD 320+ later. 160 kW DC charging (20–80% in 30 min). Stellantis reported 67,000+ European orders since launch with a 60% GT mix. The 2021–2023 second-gen (P84) sold alongside with Hybrid 225/300 PHEVs. Not sold in the US; not in China.

Social-first owner evidence

Facebook groups: no dedicated gen-3 3008 owner group surfaced via public-group search (Sept 2026) — disclosed gap. Forum/outlet evidence:

  • autodoc.co.uk: gen-3 (2024) complaints — infotainment freezes/unresponsive touchscreen, ADAS false alerts and inconsistent operation, hybrid battery draining faster than expected, delayed electric↔petrol transitions ("hybrid powertrain teething problems").
  • What Car? (YouTube review summary): infotainment "laggy" (climate shortcuts vanish under CarPlay), steering-wheel buttons feel cheap, ride "isn't amazing... a bit unsettling", pricing "dampens enthusiasm" — more than a Tesla Model Y.
  • DrivingElectric: ~19% of Peugeot owners reported a fault in year one (average); little hard reliability data on the E-3008 yet.
  • mycarforum.com (Singapore, gen-2): firmware issues — CarPlay auto-resets, RDS failures, flickering reversing camera, Hill Start Assist rollback; "all rectified in one visit... after updating to the latest firmware".
  • carchecker.pro (gen-2 Hybrid4 300): 1.6 PureTech oil consumption (piston-ring wear, €1,500–2,500 engine work in bad cases); battery recalls — MA5 (corrosion), BMS software (fire risk), 2023 charging-cable recall.
  • driveauthority.com (2026): 3008 reliability "substantially better than the brand's mid-2010s reputation"; the new 1.2 hybrid ditches the old PureTech wet belt for a chain; Peugeot 7th of 31 in 2025 Driver Power; warranty a thin 3 yr/60k miles (battery 8 yr/100k).

Reliability record

Gen 3 too new for pattern data; early signals are software/electronics, not mechanical. The new 1.2 hybrid's chain-driven design should avoid the old PureTech wet-belt failures, but stop-start-heavy hybrid use is a watch item. Gen 2 PHEVs carry documented oil-consumption and battery-recall baggage — verify all recall work on a used one. EV drivetrain itself shows no failure pattern yet.

Support reality

3-year/60,000-mile warranty (battery 8 yr/100k) — thin at this price vs Kia's 7 years. Peugeot dealer network is dense in Europe; forum reports say firmware updates fix most gen-3 glitches when dealers actually apply them. Used gen-2: demand proof of recall completion (MA5, BMS, charging cable) and current software version.

Hype flags

Stellantis's "best electric range in the SUV market" claim for the 98 kWh version is WLTP and trim-sensitive. The "67,000 orders" figure is Stellantis PR but plausible given GT mix. UK entry pricing (~£40k+ for E-3008 Allure) sits above Model Y — value is the weak spot, not the hardware.

Model-year timeline 2021–2026

| Year | Generation & changes | Reliability notes | Recalls/TSBs | Used-price band | | 2021 | Gen 2 (P84); Hybrid 225/300 PHEV | Hybrid software transition faults; timing-belt wear on 1.2 PureTech | Battery BMS/charging-cable campaigns build | €18,000–24,000 UNVERIFIED | | 2022 | Gen 2 carryover | Oil consumption on 1.6 PureTech; firmware glitches | MA5 battery corrosion recall | €19,000–26,000 UNVERIFIED | | 2023 | Gen 2 carryover | Same set; 1.6 EP6 timing-chain concern on Hybrid4 | Charging-cable recall | €21,000–28,000 UNVERIFIED | | 2024 | Gen 3 launch (STLA Medium); Hybrid 136, E-3008 210 | First-year infotainment/ADAS glitches; hybrid transition teething | None documented (gen 3) | Gen 2: €22,000–28,000 UNVERIFIED | | 2025 | Long Range 230 (98 kWh, 700 km) added | Software updates calming early glitches | None documented | Gen 2: €20,000–26,000 UNVERIFIED | | 2026 | Dual Motor AWD; range settled | Too new for data; Peugeot 7th/31 Driver Power | None documented | New only |

Sweet-spot year: 2025 — gen-3 cars with launch software sorted, full powertrain menu including the Long Range, before first-owner depreciation bites hardest. Years to avoid: 2024 gen-3 launch cars (teething electronics) and 2021–2022 gen-2 PHEVs (battery recalls, oil consumption) without full recall proof.

Raw quotes

  • "Users report frequent freezes and unresponsive touchscreen. ADAS glitches: some drivers experience false alerts and inconsistent operation." — autodoc.co.uk on 2024 models
  • "The entry level Allure trim costs about 46000 pounds... This car is more expensive than a Tesla Model Y and the Kia Niro EV. Overall, the car's pricing dampens its enthusiasm." — What Car? video review
  • "The EP6 timing chain is a known concern... The battery-related recalls (MA5 for corrosion, BMS software for fire risk, and the 2023 charging cable recall) are critical safety items." — carchecker.pro on the gen-2 Hybrid4
  • "The current third-generation 3008 (launched UK mid-2024) features a 1.2 mild hybrid rather than the older PureTech 1.2 turbo that produced documented chain tensioner and bore wear issues." — driveauthority.com, 2026
  • "All the above were rectified in one visit, as my car is 1st batch, firmware is dated, so after updating to the latest firmware issues never surface again." — mycarforum.com owner
